Back in 2021, at the young age of 17, Akash Akhilesh’s strong passion for promoting sustainability and eco-friendly living encouraged him to start the Green Lover Store.
From recycled newspaper seed pencils, and neem wooden combs, to cotton buds, organic bamboo toothbrushes and bamboo bottles, these products are accessible, stylish and planet-friendly and are designed to help everyone make greener choices for the planet.
On Earth Day (April 22), Akash speaks to News18 about the importance of prioritising environmental responsibility in business practices and how his brand is making sustainability accessible to everyone.

What inspired you to create the Green Lover Store?
I founded Green Lover Store in 2021 with a strong passion for promoting sustainability and eco-friendly living. Witnessing the environmental challenges around us, especially the impact of plastic pollution and deforestation, motivated me to take action. I wanted to create a brand that offers accessible, stylish, and eco-friendly alternatives to everyday products, empowering individuals to make greener choices for our planet.
As a young entrepreneur, why do you feel people should choose to live a sustainable and environmentally friendly life?
Being planet-friendly is essential for securing a healthier and more sustainable future for all. As a young entrepreneur, I believe it’s crucial to prioritise environmental responsibility in business practices. By choosing to live sustainably, we reduce our carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, and protect biodiversity. Each eco-friendly decision, no matter how small, contributes to positive change and inspires others to join the movement towards a greener lifestyle.
Your products are reasonably priced, what would you like to tell people who feel sustainable products are expensive?
At Green Lover Store, we are committed to making sustainability accessible to everyone. Our goal is to dispel the myth that eco-friendly products are always expensive. By optimising our supply chain, sourcing materials responsibly, and minimising overhead costs, we can offer high-quality sustainable products at affordable prices. Investing in sustainable products not only benefits the environment but also promotes a more mindful and conscientious consumer culture.
Why are your products the best alternative and why should one stop using plastic products?
Our products at Green Lover Store provide a superior alternative to plastic items for several reasons. Firstly, they are made from renewable, biodegradable, or recycled materials, minimising waste and reducing environmental impact. Secondly, our products are designed to be durable and functional, offering long-term value and performance. Choosing to switch from plastic to eco-friendly alternatives is crucial to combating plastic pollution, preserving marine life, and fostering a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations.
