Amid Rising Cases Of Dengue In Puducherry, Doctor Shares This Preventive Hack
Ayurvedic doctor named Siddique Ali spoke about the steps to be taken to prevent dengue.

Dengue fever is spreading rapidly across the country. Due to this, the state government hospitals are congested with patients. Blood samples of people suffering from fever were collected, tested and diagnosed with dengue fever. As of September 29, 2024, Puducherry has reported 1,294 cases of dengue fever. The district administration has intensified dengue prevention measures due to intermittent showers. The health department has worked with the public, municipality, and education departments to implement preventative measures. Fevers like Chikungunya and Malaria have been on the rise in India too. In the last 22 days, approximately 200 people have contracted dengue fever in Puducherry. In such a situation, an Ayurvedic doctor named Siddique Ali spoke about the steps to be taken to prevent dengue. He recommends neem water to cure dengue. It is also sold as a powder at the psychiatry department of all Primary Health Centres. It is distributed free to the public.

Neem is believed to have antibacterial properties which help in curing dengue. You can buy it in the form of power. Take 5 to 10 grams of powder in 200 ml of water and boil it well. That will reduce it by about 50 ml. It should be given twice a day to those suffering from dengue. Ayurvedic doctor Siddique Ali said that 30 to 50 ml should be taken in each dose. If there is no fever, then it should be taken once a day for five days to prevent dengue from spreading.

Doctor Siddique said Neem powder should not be consumed directly. It is a combination of 9 herbs including neem, vetiver, suku, pepper and fennel. Half of neem water is enough for children. Once used, do not reheat and drink. It should be prepared fresh and eaten.

During the fieldwork, the team visited homes in Samipillai Thottam to identify and eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds. The residents were advised to dispose of items that could collect stagnant water and prevent the accumulation of freshwater for over four days.

The community was educated on dengue symptoms, including seeking immediate medical attention if experiencing pain behind the eyes.
