While Kim Soo-hyun has been in the news for his phenomenal performance in Queen of Tears, his father also recently made headlines. The South Korean actor’s father, singer Kim Chung-hoon recently tied the knot again. It has been reported that Kim Chung-hoon married his longtime partner in an intimate ceremony. However, Kim Soo-hyun gave the wedding ceremony a pass.
As per the reports, the singer (who was also the lead vocalist of a 1980s rock band, Seven Dolphins), has reportedly been married for a while but it was only recently they decided to have a wedding party. The news of their wedding was reported by South Korean publication The Fact. The ceremony took place on Saturday, April 13, and Kim Chung-hoon reportedly told guests that he “grateful for (his wife) who stayed by [his] side even when [he] was nobody” and always wanted “to put a bridal veil on An, even if belated.”
The singer reportedly wanted to have a small gathering so that he would ‘not cause trouble’ for his son. Meanwhile, it is also reported that Kim Soo-hyun was not close to his father after his divorce from the actor’s mother. AllKPop reported that the singer was allegedly an absent father. However, his father allegedly tried to connect with his son after the actor was discharged from the military enlistment in 2019. There has not been an update since about their relationship.
On the work front, Kim Soo-hyun currently appears on Queen of Tears with Kim Ji-won. The K-drama has earned the impressive rating of 20.7%, according to Nielsen Korea data. With this rating, the show has now become the second highest rated drama in the history of tvN. The show surpassed the previous record set by Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun starrer Goblin in 2016, which had a rating of 20.5%. Crash Landing on You, featuring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, continues to hold the title of the highest rated series, as the show achieved a record breaking rating of 21.7% for the finale episode.
