KALADY: A centre for the study of Vedanta and Sankara Darsan should be set up in Kalady, the birthplace of Adi Sankaracharya, former Union minister O Rajagopal said here on Sunday.Inaugurating a seminar on Sankara Darsanam on the concluding day of the two-day state conference of the Yogakshema Sabha here, Rajagopal said that organisations such as the Yogakshema Sabha should actively involve themselves in social reforms, he said. Kanchi University former Vice-Chancellor Vishnu Potti delivered the keynote address. Sringeri Mutt honorary manager A Subramanya Iyer delivered the benedictory address. Yogakshema Sabha state conference reception committee chairman P N Vasudevan Namboodiri presided over the meeting. Organising committee general convenor T V R Namboodiri and south zone joint-secretary E K Eswaran spoke. Yogakshema Sabha state president Akkeeraman Kalidasa Bhattathiripad presided over the cultural meeting organised on the occasion.T K Sreekumar, B Girirajan, V Ramalingam, Anilkumar, Thambanoor Govindanayak, A P Sankaran Moosath, C R Ramachandran, V M Unni Embranthiri and Pradeep Jyothi spoke on the occasion. A colourful procession was held prior to the valedictory meeting on Sunday evening. The procession started from the Sree Sankara Keerthi Mandapam and concluded at the Sree Ramakrihsna Ashramam.
