A woman allegedly severed a four-year-old girl’s ears to steal her gold earring at Soravanahalli Gate near T B Cross at Turuvekere taluk on Monday.
Netravathi, daughter of Chandrashekara and Manjamma, was playing at her house on Monday morning, when their neighbour Ratnamma took her to a secluded place near Hemavathy river water canal and tried to remove her ornaments.
When she severed the girl’s ears and assaulted her with a knife the child started to scream and the accused fled, leaving the girl near her home.
She was traced in Mayasandra town where the public caught hold of her and handed over to the police.
Interestingly, the ornaments could not be traced and the accused denied the charges.
The girl was admitted to a hospital.
The doctor told Express that the child might have internal injuries since the accused tried to pull the ornament out.
Police have registered a case.
4-yr-old Dies of Dengue
A four-year-old girl died allegedly of dengue in Madhugiri town on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Varshini, daughter of Rangalakshmi and Muralidhara of Krishna Rajendra Extension here.
She died at Vani Vilas Hospital in Bangalore where the doctors reportedly confirmed the cause of death to be dengue.
Earlier, she was admitted with symptoms of viral fever at a private hospital in Madhugiri on August 17 and later referred to Vani Vilas.
Bodies Found
Two decomposed bodies that bore injuries, were found in a canal between Golla Halli and Chokkanahalli of Siddlaghatta taluk in Chikballapur on Monday.
Sources said the male bodies are aged about 32-35 years.
