BANGALORE: Among the most affected areas in the city, dwellers of Electronics City seem to be suffering the most. Industrial advancement in the area too has contributed to the problems. Having become a mini IT hub, the area gets millions of litres of water from the BWSSB on a daily basis. Infosys, for instance, gets about 1 MLD for 25,000 odd techies. “The BWSSB supplies the water but because of the water worries that have gripped the city, it has become difficult to manage,” said a source from Infosys. Further, the new chairman of BWSSB explained that he had got a call from the company to regulate water supply better. Electronics City houses over 2 lakh residents in the area. “Water supply has been hampered. Although we were affected the least a couple of weeks ago, because of the strong industrial presence in the area - now the problem has worsened. We do not get water supply even on alternate days,” said Sita Kumar, a resident of Electronics City. Worst affected is the on-going construction work in the area. Construction has reached the half-way stage at housing complexes and realtors are hoping to release their projects at the start of the new financial year, which seems unlikely. Residents said though they have complained to the BWSSB, it has fallen on deaf ears.
