Amritsar: In a shocking incident, a 52-year-old widow was stripped naked in full public view, beaten up and her face blackened by a group of people near here in an apparent revenge to her relative eloping with a girl from their family years ago.
A group of six from a family barged into the woman's house in Ramdiwali Hinduana village this morning, took her away forcibly, tore her clothes and tied her to a tree before leaving the place, police said adding they also dared the onlookers to help her.
The villagers informed the police soon after and the six of them were arrested.
A case was registered against the accused Shingara Singh, his son Gurmit Singh, daughter-in-law Amarjit Kaur and two others under various sections of IPC.
Police said a member of the woman's family in the village had allegedly eloped with a girl of the accused's family some years ago and they got a chance to take revenge from her today while she was alone in the house.
