CHENNAI: The wife of a former AIADMK functionary was robbed of her gold chain at knife-point, in Semmenchery on Thursday.Around 8.30 pm on Thursday, G Anusuya (35), wife of L Gajendran, who was an AIADMK functionary, passed away a few years ago, and her two children were alone at their house on Ekambara Naicker St, Sholinganallur, when a man rang the bell. When Anusuya was opening the front door, the stranger, said to be around 25 years old, asked if there was anybody else at home. When Anusuya replied in the negative, the man soon brandished a knife and demanded that she remove her 25-sovereign gold chain and hand it over to him. Fearing for the lives of her kids, who were standing nearby, she complied. The man subsequently fled the spot.
