West Bengal: Maoists offer conditional ceasefire
Maoists are willing to go for the ceasefire if the government reins the joint CRPF and police forces.

Kolkata: For the first time in West Bengal, the Maoists have offered a conditional ceasefire for a month.

The Maoists are willing to go for the ceasefire if the West Bengal government reins the joint CRPF and state police forces.

The offer for the ceasefire from the Maoists has come after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she would go all out against the Naxals after four months of a soft approach yielded no result.

After coming to power in the state, Banerjee had suspended anti-Maoist operations. However, a series of killings by the rebels, including two Trinamool Congress leaders, forced her to warn them of action on September 25.
