KOCHI: No case will be charged against the weekly which reported about the alleged snooping of emails of some persons, including Muslim League leaders and journalists, by the Special Branch. Addressing a press conference in Kochi on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that it was unfortunate that the weekly mentioned only the names of people belonging to a particular community. “There were 268 addresses in the list, but the weekly did not publish the names of 10 people,” Chandy said.Terming the controversy ‘unfortunate,’ he said the media should observe restraint while reporting such issues. The police had sought the details of e-mail of certain people as part of its routine probe on suspicious activities. “The controversy was created deliberately. It is the responsibility of the police and will be done in future too if necessary,” Chandy said.
