Bangalore: Airport arrivals are where one can spot some of the happiest faces. But happiness is an understatement when you see your child coming safe after an air-scare.
This is what Tejaswi's mother felt as she hugged her daughter at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore. Tejaswi was one of the 159 passengers on-board MH192, the Malaysia Airline jet that was forced to make a turnback after a technical snag. The rescheduled flight landed safely at the Bangalore airport at 4:57 pm on Monday. With that, the passengers and their families heaved a sigh of relief. "I really want to go home. It has been a very stressful day," Tejaswi said as the media persons waiting outside thrust their mics at her.
Another passenger, Rajeev, a Syndey-based engineer was coming with his family to Bangalore for a vacation. Their stopover in Kuala Lumpur is something they will never forget.
"There were many children and infants on-board. Many people who were travelling alone were thinking about their parents," he said. "I tried to stay positive because I thought all four of us are here and let's go through this," he said.
The passengers lauded the pilot for his handling of the situation during the crisis hours. "All the credit should go to the pilot because he did a fantastic job,"said Rajeev. "There was constant communication from the pilot and they used to update us," he said. The passengers said the aircraft circled over Kuala Lumpur airport before it could make a safe landing.
The Bangalore-bound Malaysia Airlines flight from Kulala Lumpur, MH192, was forced to make a turnback soon after its take off due to a technical snag. There were tense hours before the flight could land in Kuala Lumpur. "We were on the runway, we heard a huge noise. Boom! We know something was wrong. We all screamed saying the tyre had burst," said Rajkumar, a passenger. "We were very scared. We didn't know what was going to happen to us," he said.
The passengers, terrified at the thought of meeting the same fate as that of those in the mysterious MH370 which has been missing for over forty days now, kept a prayer on their lips. "It was Easter Sunday and people were chanting prayers. It was a sincere prayer to our gods," said Rajeev.
