Mumbai: The Vijay Mallya-owned Force India Formula One team has announced its driver line-up for the new F1 season and as expected there is no place for the fastest Indian on wheels Narain Karthikayen. Experienced Italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella will be the No 1 driver of the team and Germany's Adrian Sutil will be the second driver.

Fisichella spoke to CNN-IBN's Roma Khanna after he was named as the driver for Force India.

"It’s a good challenge for me to be back in a new team. This is a good project and the budget has increased quite a lot compared to last year. So we need to grow up, we need to take a step forward to get points this year," Giancarlo Fisichella said

Roma Khanna: The season is due to begin in just over two months and the car will be launched next month. Do you think it will be a bit difficult for you to get used to the new car?

Giancarlo Fisichella: This year it is going to be much more difficult than last year. Without the traction control, the engine, braking, the differential control, it is much tougher for us to drive the car. So it is going to be much more interesting to follow the race. We are going to see much more mistakes and to manage the race is quite difficult for the driver.

Roma Khanna: Was it easy for you to come to this decision because Michael Schumacher had advised his brother that it is much better to drive a car that does well?

Giancarlo Fisichella: I know. But I love Formula One and I want to be a Formula One driver for a few more years specially because I told you that the project was very interesting. For the future we can do well. We need to work together, we need to work a lot in every area and I think we can take a step forward and fight for maybe not victory in a couple of years maybe for the podium.
