HYDERABAD: A village revenue officer from Vizianagaram district, who was trapped taking bribe 10 days back, was found in possession of disproportionate assets worth over Rs 42 lakh in searches conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Friday. The VRO of Parvathipuram in Vizianagaram district Belgam Rama Shankar Rao was caught on June 1 when he accepted a bribe from a person. Following the trap, ACB sleuths on Friday conducted searches on the residence of the VRO and also on his relatives at four places in Vizianagaram district.Shankar Rao was found in possession of nine plots and two houses at Parvathipuram, 7.27 acre agricultural land in and around Parvathipuram, cash of Rs 5.95 lakh, gold worth s 10 lakh, silver worth Rs five lakh and household articles worth more than Rs 4.80 lakh. Another 150 grams of gold was found in the bank locker of the VRO, an official release said. Shankar Rao, who was arrested on June 1 after he was trapped, secured a bail and was released on June 8, ACB officials said.
