Villupuram Collector appears in court

CHENNAI: As directed earlier, Villupuram collector Manimegalai, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) and the Tindivanam Municipal Commissioner appeared before the First Bench of the Madras HC on Tuesday.Accepting the explanations given by them, the bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam discharged them from the proceedings.As the officials did not file their counters in response to a public interest writ petition seeking to protect the Kidangal lake in Tindivanam from encroachment, despite repeated reminders from the Government Pleader, the bench directed them to appear before it and file affidavits. Accordingly, they appeared before the bench today and filed affidavits.
