The CBI court on Friday dismissed the bail petition filed by GV Vijay Raghav, an accused in the Emaar land scam.
The CBI objected to the bail petition saying that Vijay Raghav would influence the witnesses and that the agency was yet to make further investigation in the case.
The CBI filed a petition in the special court for CBI cases opposing grant of bail to suspended IAS officer BP Acharya, saying that when Acharya was at the helm of affairs at APIIC, important agreements were signed for the Emaar project.
Though there were several irregularities in the agreements, Acharya did not object to them. Besides, Acharya is an influential person and can influence witnesses if enlarged on bail, the CBI said.
The court posted the matter for hearing on August 7. In the Jaganmohan Reddy’s assets case, a CBI court asked the investigation agency to file a counter to the bail petitions filed by former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao and IRAS officer KV Brahmananda Reddy.
The duo, lodged in the Chanchalguda central prison, filed petitions seeking bail. Arguments on the bail petitions will be heard on August 7 and 8.
