VISAKHAPATNAM: Senior Congress leader and member of the Rajya Sabha V Hanumantha Rao on Friday urged chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to get the CBI investigate irregularities in development projects taken up by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) since 2000.Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, he said that there were irregularities in land allotment by VUDA at Madhurawada, Paradesipalem and Rushikonda, among others, to commercial establishments.The land allocations by VUDA violated the environmental norms.In many areas large stretches of land on hillsides and water bodies have been given to commercial ventures, he said and added that destruction of wildlife habitat by VUDA, forced big cats like leopards and panthers to intrude into human habitations.
