A 45-year-old push-cart vendor, Venkata Lakshmi, was hospitalised with serious burn injuries when GHMC officials tried removing push carts from footpaths at Kothapet in Saroornagar here on Monday.
The incident took place near Sharmila film theater. “When she was selling idlis and other fast-food, the GHMC officials rushed to the place and asked the vendors to vacate the area.
When the vendors refused do so, officials forcibly removed the carts. In the incident, hot oil, which was heated on the stove, fell on Lakshmi,” Saroornagar sub-inspector Anjaneyulu said. Lakshmi lodged a complaint and police registered a case against GHMC officials.
