New Delhi: Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, now on an African tour, has been hospitalised in Liberia after a "small car accident".
According to a personal aide of the minister, Ravi was involved in a "small car accident" about noon in Liberia. He has been hospitalised in the John F Kennedy Medical Center in the Liberian capital, Monrovia.
He has been declared out of danger, but is still being monitored by doctors, the aide told IANS.
Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, who is also in charge of Africa, informed on his Twitter account that initial reports were encouraging on Ravi's condition, but his evacuation was being arranged if required.
India's ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire, Shamma Jain, who is concurrently accredited to Liberia, was also injured in the accident.
Ravi is on a trip to Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Liberia and Nigeria from January 29 to February 6.
