HYDERABAD: Andhr a Pradesh Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (APFUTA) has deferred their decision of boycotting preparatory works for all entrance tests from April 16 to 21 after deputy chief minister and higher education minister Damodara Rajanarasimha assured that the state government would address their demands within four days.The deputy chief minister held a meeting with the representatives of APFUTA here on Sunday after the varsity teachers had announced an action plan to boycott preparatory work of all entrance examination including Eamcet, Icet, Edcet and all varsity post graduate tests, in protest against the delay in the release of UGC RSP 2006 arrears.Speaking to Express, APFUTA president, Batta Sataynarayana, said the deputy chief minister has responded to their demands positively.While the state government has proposed to release the funds in two to three phases to the varsity teachers, the APFUTA is demanding the Government release all the arrears at a time.The state government has to pay nearly Rs 1,100 crores towards the varsity professors’ arrears and the APFUTA has been organising protests since February this year demanding their release.The government will also take a decision on the demand of increasing in age of superannuation of varsity professors, Sataynarayana said.However, he made it clear that they would go ahead with the same action plan from Apirl 21 if the state government fails in addressing their demands by April 20.
