THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A group of miscreants have vandalised a portion of the bus shelter in front of the Museum. The model Cosmo shelter specially designed by the Thiruvananthapuram Development Company Limited as part of the City Roads Improvement Programme in front of the Museum was attacked the other night.The flex board, campaigning for green and clean Thiruvananthapuram, was torn apart. Glasses were broken and electric connections were damaged. The TRDCL has registered a case with the Museum Police. “Ever since we started constructing the bus shelters, some people having vested interests in arranging advertisements at the bus stops have been working against the construction,” a senior TRDCL official said. “Materials worth Rs 30,000 have been destroyed,” he added.According to the Museum Police, investigation to nab the miscreants was in progress.The Cosmo shelters were planned in such a way so as to give an ultra modern look to the city. The Cosmo shelters have boards displaying the names of places, bus timings, city map and other information. Provision to listen to music too was planned at the shelter. The bus shelter in front of the Museum was put up as a model for suggestions.Cosmo bus shelters have come up at Sasthamangalam, Kowdiar and Peroorkada. As per the initial plans of TRDCL, as many as 200 bus shelters were to come up in the city. Some of the new bus shelters had been constructed using the fund of the then MLA M Vijayakumar.
