KARUR: Strongly supporting the Tamil Nadu government’s stand on the Mullaiperiyar-issue, MDMK leader Vaiko on Fridaysaid a new dam should not be constructed by the Kerala government.CP Roy, the leader of the expert committee to study the strength of the dam, hadcriticised the Tamil Nadu PWD Minister for stating that Tamil Nadu would oppose the construction of a new dam. But, he had not commented on the remarks of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who had said that his government would construct a new dam.Accusing Roy of adopting double standards, Vaiko said there can’t be one yardstick for the Tamil Nadu Minister and another for the Kerala Chief Minister.Strongly supporting a separate nation for the Lankan Tamils, he said Lankan military should be withdrawn from Tamil areas and the ‘Sinhala colonies’ in Tamil areas should be removed, he added.
