Guwahati: ULFA 'chairman' Arabindo Rajkhowa kissed his son and daughter goodbye before he left the guest house where he was put up along with nine others, including his wife, before being taken to court for production on Saturday.

When 52-year-old Rajkhowa was about to board the bus to go to court, his five-year-old son Gadhadhar came running to ask him where he was going.

According to a constable at the guest house, Rajkhowa told his son he was going for official work.

However, while bidding farewell to wife Kaveri and daughter Kanchan Bhagiraj Konwar, his eyes turned moist. His wife also broke down.

The outfit's 'deputy commander-in-chief' Raju Baruah also bade an emotional farewell to his wife Nirola Neog and 10-month-old son.

He burst into tears as special branch officials police came to take him to court.

Ajay Rajkhowa, the younger brother of the ULFA chairman, said he last met his brother in 1985 and was seeing him again in court.

"Arabindo told me to convey to the people of Assam that he will not sit for talks with the Centre sans the issue of demand for sovereignty," he said.

His sister, Bharati Rajkhowa said she could not speak to her brother, but only managed to touch his hand.

Raju Baruah's sister Arati Kalita said she is seeing her brother after many years. "He asked me whether everything was fine," she said.
