KOCHI: Two Keralites, accused in the Kozhikode twin blasts case, have been declared India’s wanted terrorists by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The duo is among the 25 people, who have been declared as wanted terrorists, after being accused of committing terrorist activities across the country.Second accused in the twin blast case – Muhammed Ashar alias Ashar, of Cheruparamba in Thalassery – and eighth accused P P Yoosaf, Koyyam in Thaliparamba -who are absconding, have been included in the list of wanted terrorists. The charges leveled against them are IPC 120B (criminal conspiracy), 124A(attempts to excite disaffection towards the government), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion), 324 r/w 34, various sections of Unlawful Assembly Prevention Act and Section 3,4 and 5 of Explosive Substances Act.“Within a month, the Interpol will issue a red corner notice against them. The NIA has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to take necessary steps in this regard. The decision has been made based on the NIA special court’s order,” a top NIA official said. Sources said the agency has also sought the help of Dubai police to trace the absconding duo. “We have some solid information that both of them are in Saudi Arabia. They went there to work as aluminium fabrication employees. After one year, they quit the job. The NIA team had questioned the sponsor of the two but he was not able to provide any information,” the NIA official said.The twin blasts were at the KSRTC and Moffusil bus stands in Kozhikode on March 3, 2006. According to the NIA chargesheet, bombs were manufactured on the house premises of Mohammed Ashar in Tekki Bazar, Kannur. They were also included in the task of planting bombs at the Moffusil bus stand. The accused willfully acted to strike terror through the two blasts using improvised explosive devices. The Special NIA Court had already completed the first phase trial in the case and sentenced the two main accused in the case – Thadiyantavide Nazir and Shafas – for life imprisonment. Two other accused – Aboobaker Yousuf and Halim - were acquitted by the NIA court.
