Los Angeles: A small plane crashed in Santa Clarita near Los Angeles on Saturday, killing two people on board, authorities said.
The plane crashed in the middle of a street at noon, said Brendon Peart of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
"A small experimental aircraft crashed in the middle of the street," he said. "There were two fatalities on the plane."
But no one was injured on the ground, he said.
Meanwhile, Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), said the aircraft was registered to a local resident.
He added that he did not know where the flight originated or where the plane had been headed.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will launch an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
