BANGALORE: Abounding with the wonders of nature, and amidst sylvan green surroundings, there existed a pristine lake well inside the Bagmane Tech Park. However, off late, Kelaginakere Byrasandra lake has turned into a wasteland with the sewage water diverted into it, which ruins the purity of the lake. This wonders of wonder is a regular habitat for different migratory birds and a variety of fishes. It is also a hub for children and parents during evening and morning hours. “The water body is being polluted by allowing the drainage of waste water into the lake. I request the authorities to take corrective action in restoring the lake as soon as possible,” says Kiran NS, a resident near the Bagmane Tech Park.Voicing a similar opinion, Sandeepan R said, “My biggest fear is that like many other lakes, we are also moving in the same direction of losing this water resource. Before any such grave situation confronts us, I want the authorities to wake up and do the needful.”When City Express visited the spot, we observed that a pipe has been connected to the lake to drain out some waste water. “It looks like some one around has connected a drainage pipe to the lake. Since, this area is housing various IT companies and factories, we really don’t know the identity of the unit that is discharging their industrial waste. We are not sure, but that is for the authorities to find out and identify the main culprits. All we want is to save this lake from being a target of urbanisation and lack of negligence from the authority. The lake has become so dirty that very soon it will erase all the aquatic life that is existing here, said Vidya K, a resident.”
