BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed that changes in the spelling of ‘Orissa’ to ‘Odisha’ and ‘Oriya’ to ‘Odia’ should be done within a timeframe at all levels. The Bill for the change in the spelling of the State’s name got assent of President Pratibha Patil on Friday. Changes in the signboards of all the government offices in and outside the State and the resident offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata will be completed by March 31, 2012. Besides, correction in the spelling in the Government of Orissa portal, websites of different departments and other government websites will be completed within a month. Correction in the textbooks will be made in the next editions, official sources said. The Chief Minister has directed officials concerned to make corrections in the government writing pads and other office stationery too. Old writing pads will not be destroyed. Changes as per the new legislation will be made in the new stationery after the old ones are fully utilised, he said.
