New Delhi: The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) spearheaded reservation debate spread to private hospitals in the Capital on Wednesday.
Doctors from private hospitals responded to the DMA's call for a one-day strike and many of them reached AIIMs to show support for the cause.
Sr Consultant of Rockland and DMA member Dr Sanjeev Chhiber said, "It is a peaceful revolution, for the mind, the people of this country, it's a revolution to take away the sewage and bring in fresh tidal to clean our souls".
The Doctors at Escorts, while trying to leave for AIIMS, had a run-in with the police.
GM of Escorts Hospital Dr Ashish Sabharwal said, "We were prevented at escort hospital by the police, there was a scuffle, we were manhandled, it was extremely shameful and we would like to condemn it".
While the OPDs at the hospitals were largely deserted, hospital authorities emphasised that emergency services and patients receiving treatment were not affected.
Relatives of the patients in the ICU faced no inconvenience either.
Ratna, a heart patient's nephew said, "My uncle is here in ICU, he has a problem of heart I didn't get affect by the strike".
