COIMBATORE: An unprecedented high demand for application forms for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2012) has prompted authorities at the Anna University to suspend the sale of the forms for three days beginning Monday. This year, in less than 10 days, the Anna University had sold two lakh application forms that serve as an entry ticket for the single window counselling for admission into Government quota BE/BTech seats. “There will be no sale of applications for the TNEA 2012 between May 21 and 23. Issuing of the forms will resume on May 24 and continue till May 31,” TNEA Secretary Professor V Rhymend Uthariaraj told Express on Sunday. This is the first time in the over 15 year-old history of the TNEA that the sale of application forms has been suspended. The sale of the forms this year had begun on May 11 in 59 centres across the State. The Anna University had printed two lakh forms but all the forms were sold out by May 19. “We have now decided to print 40,000 application forms additionally. These will reach us only on Monday and it would take at least two days to dispatch them,” Uthariaraj added. But, students can register applications online at www.annauniv.edu/tnea2012 , he said.
