TIRUNELVELI: Eight persons, including three children, were killed in an accident near Alangulam in Tirunelveli district on Sunday.Police sources said, Ammaiyappar (40), a businessman, and Kalimuthu (44) from Seevanallur near Melagaram at Tenkasi were returning in a car along with their family from a function at a relative’s house in Tiru-nelveli town on Sunday.When the car neared Kurukku Salai near Alangulam on the Tenkasi-Tirunelveli Highway, it collided with a mini lorry coming from the opposite direction. In the impact, Ammaiyappar, his daughter Selvi (20), son Gautham (9), Jayakumari (37), wife of Kalimuthu, her son Harish (8), daughter Gayathiri (13) and her mother Arumughakalanjiyam (55) and car driver Bala (32) from Tenkasi were killed. Kalimuthu and the mini lorry driver Velmurugan (37), who were critically injured, were admitted to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for treatment, police added.
