TIRUMALA: In a significant decision, the TTD Trust Board which met here on Wednesday, resolved to improve the quality of laddu, the main prasadam of the Lord of the Seven Hills.The laddu would be made rich in quality and more palatable and tasty by mixing raisins. For this, the Board has decided to buy 4 lakh kg of raisins to be mixed in the laddu.As a first step, the TTD will buy one lakh kg of dried grapes and the rest will be acquired in further instalments.Briefing mediapersons on the decisions taken by the TTD Board, its chairman K Bapiraju said that it has been decided to follow the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission with regard to tenders for  purchasing materials.He said they would soon circulate a memo with copies of the recommendations to all the wings of the TTD.It was also decided to increase the risk allowance for palanquin bearers from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000, the  TTD chairman said. The administration has also approved to create a post of physiotherapist in BIRRD hospital.The board meeting had also approved sanctioning of Rs 3.75 crore to the nephrology department in SVIMS and increase the number of beds in the guest houses in Tirupati and Tirumala including that of the newly-inaugurated Vishnu Nivas.
