New Delhi: Three Delhi Police constables were suspended as their negligence led to the escape of two auto-lifters from their custody from a hospital in the capital, police said on Tuesday.

The constables identified as Sandeep, Kapil and Nandlal, who were posted at west Delhi's Moti Nagar police station, were suspended on April 22.

Additional Commissioner of Police, V Renganathan said, "On April 19, three people-Ajay, Kuldeep and Vivek - were arrested in auto lifting case. After keeping them on two days police remand they were sent to Moti Nagar's Acharya Shri Bhikshu Hospital on April 21 for their medical examination in custody of these constables."

According to Renganahan, Ajay and Kuldeep managed to flee from the hospital. Though Ajay was later arrested but Kuldeep remains absconding.
