The Rolling Stones have been named as the ‘Top Music Earners’ by Forbes.

New Delhi: The flamboyant rock outfit of the 70s, The Rolling Stones has been named as the ‘Top Earning Music Act of The Past Year’ by US business publication Forbes. The equally loved and despised band reportedly made a whopper - 88 millions dollars between June of 2006 and 2007!

The BBC quoted Forbes as saying, "The really serious money comes from touring. And no-one can pull in the big bucks like an older, established music act." According to the report, the major chunk of their earnings – rolled in from their Bigger Bang world tour which lasted two years and amounted to 437 million dollars.

US rapper Jay-Z with total earnings of 83 million dollars finished second to the mavericks and with an income of 72 million dollars, pop diva Madonna secured a third position for herself.

At positions four and five were Bon Jovi ($67 million) and Sir Elton John ( £53 million) respectively.
