HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress MPs met Union defence minister and Congress Core Committee member AK Antony in Delhi on Tuesday and demanded bifurcation of the state as early as possible.
According to Manda Jangannadham, a member of the delegation, the MPs explained to Antony the intensity of the movement and how the Sakala Janula Samme paralysed the administration. The Union minister promised an early resolution to the tangle."The Union minister patiently heard our argument for bifrucation of the state and said he too had received reports on the effect of the strike by all sections of people and described it as very unfortunate. He wanted us to discuss the issue with other members of the core committee. He also said he would apprise the prime minister of the need for an early resolution," Jagannadham said. The delegation, comprising Jagannadham, G Vivek, Ponnam Prabhakar, S Rajaiah and Balaram Naik, is likely to meet AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday.
