New Delhi: A minor boy died after a teenager administered a drug overdose to him in Delhi, police said on Sunday. The accused has been taken into custody.
"Saurabh, a class 5 student was playing outside his house in Karawal Nagar in east Delhi, on Saturday afternoon, when he was allegedly taken by a 17-year-old neighbour to an isolated place and injected with a drug overdose," said a police officer.
A neighbour informed Saurabh's family members when he found him in an unconscious condition. He was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where he died in a few hours during treatment.
The victim's family members and relatives on late Saturday protested outside the Karawal Nagar police station against police inaction in the case.
"We informed the police on Saturday evening, but they did not catch the accused," said Saurabh's father.
Police apprehended the accused on Sunday morning. "We took him into custody and sent him to child observation home," an officer said.
