The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR & CE) department would soon constitute technical committees to take up rope car projects in three hill temples – Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple at Sholinghur, Sri Rathinagireeswarar Temple at Ayyarmalai and Arulmighu Dandayudhapani Swamy Temple at Palani, said HR & CE Minister M S M Anandan on Tuesday.
“We will form the technical committees soon. Under this project, Sri Murugan temple at Palani will get a rope car in addition to the existing one,” said the minister after a review meeting with the Vellore region officials at Vellore Collectorate.
Experts from abroad would be engaged in the project and modern technology would be used in setting up the rope car in Palani. “The modernised rope car will ferry 800 to 1,000 pilgrims atop Palani hill within an hour,” he said.
Anandan said the staff strength had been reviewed and the vacant posts of executive officers and other ranks would be filled up after service commission’s order. “Repair and renovation was completed in 461 temples out of 1,006 temples for the current fiscal year,” he said.
The ministry would extend Annathanam scheme to 50 temples this year.
The CM launched the scheme in 106 temples and now it will be extended to 50 temples. She will launch the annathanam scheme in Srirangam and Palani temples. It will be served to the pilgrims from 8 am to 10 pm in these two temples,” Anandan added.
