The District Institute of Teacher Education (DIET), under the aegis of the Directorate of School Education has launched an initiative to identify tough portions in the subjects of the vocational stream of education and chalk out simple ways to teach them.
At the first-level preparatory meeting held at the DIET office at Ranipet on Monday, a group of teachers, teaching 12 vocational subjects, participated in a session, focusing on the need for simplified teaching methods and learning process of the students.
At the second level meeting presided by the DIET Principal Basheer Ahmed on Tuesday at the Government KAKM Higher Secondary School, the vocational teachers identified nine portions as tough in the 12 subjects. These were Accounting and Auditing, Office Management, Typewriting, Electronic Equipments, Electrical Appliances and General Machinists.
According to S N Janardhanan, State General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary School Vocational Teachers Kazhagam, who participated in the deliberations, the input from the teachers were based on their experience and feedback from students.
At the third level meeting to be held on September 21, a group of vocational teachers (three per subject) from Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts would also be convened to solicit solutions to make teaching of the subjects simpler as well make students understand subjects without difficulty.
