HYDERABAD: Advancing its showdown with the government, Telugu Desam party gave a notice to move a no-trust motion against N Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the state. The TDP initially wanted to move the no-trust motion as soon as the Assembly met for the monsoon session.A TDP delegation led by party MLA E Dayakar Rao gave a notice to Assembly secretary on Thursday. The speaker should act on the notice within ten days.Speaking to reporters later, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said that his party MLAs submitted a notice to the speaker to move a no-trust motion against the government. “The state government had failed to protect the interests of the farmers. Apart from this the government had failed in several other issues like fee reimbursement etc,” Naidu said.He said Assembly was not prorogued by the governor after the budget session and the speaker could convene the session on his own at any time. “This government lost the confidence of the people as it failed on all fronts,” Naidu said while defending his party’s decision to move a no-trust motion.Though farmers suffered a lot due to natural calamities, the government agencies were not in a position to purchase paddy. “Around 100 lakh tonnes of paddy is lying with farmers. The cotton and tobacco farmers were not getting remunerative prices for their produce. They are not even able to provide space to store the produce. The resentment among the people is growing,” Naidu said.“The people are suffering and we, as opposition party, have been agitating on these issues,’’ he said.On yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s fast, Naidu said his aprty would support his agitation and send a team of MPs to meet him. Naidu called up Ramdev and extended his support. “I am also sending a letter with my MPs to Ramdev,” he added.
