TDP protests against water supply

HYDERABAD: Nearly a dozen TDP corporators, along with hundreds of party workers, staged a demonstration at the head office of the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board at Khairatabad on Monday to protest against inadequate supply of drinking water to the citizens of Greater Hyderabad.Holding empty clay pots and led by TDP city president T Krishna Reddy and GHMC floor leader S.Srinivas Reddy, the protesters marched to the water board’s office and shouted slogans against the authorities.Addressing the crowd, Srinivas Reddy said that despite having sufficient water sources, the board failed to supply adequate water to the people. Half the city’s population was getting water supply twice a week and the situation was pathetic in peripheral areas where the supply was once a week, he alleged. The performance and the services of the water board were poor but the water tariff was very high, he further alleged.
