KOCHI: A 24-year-old woman hailing from Tamil Nadu was found dead inside her rented house at Ponnurunni, here, on Tuesday.The deceased has been identified as Muthumari, 24. Muthumari’s husband Alakaraja, 29, was arrested in this connection from Kattappana. The incident came to light when the neighbours opened the house after they heard her child crying inconsolably. They found the body of Muthumari lying face down on a mat inside the room.SI Ananthalal said that preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was strangulated to death using a plastic rope. Police have found the rope used by the accused. Forensic officials have collected fingerprints and other evidence from the spot.The couple had been staying at the rented house for the last one year. The body was shifted to Alappuzha Medical College.A police team led by Central Circle Inspector D S Suneesh Babu and Kadavanthra Sub-Inspector S Ananthalal, have begun a probe into the incident.
