Suspected Maoists abducted three bank officials when they were coming to Ranchi, police said Sunday.

Suspected Maoists abducted three bank officials when they were coming to Ranchi, police said Sunday.

According to police, Pramod Kumar Singh, manager of the State Bank of India's Panki branch in Palamu district, was abducted along with two other officials when they were coming to the state capital Saturday night.

The other two officials are accountant Angila Kerketta and field officer Anup Kumar Lal.

The three were abducted on the Panki-Balumath state highway in Palamu district, 145 km from Ranchi.

All are residents of Ranchi.

Police are suspecting Maoist outfit People's Liberation Front of India to be behind the abduction. A massive combing operation has been launched to rescue the bank officials.

Family members are not speaking to the media as they fear threat to the lives of the abducted officials.
