External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani counterpart Sartaj Aziz met on Wednesday at the SAARC inter-summit ministerial meet in Pokhara in Nepal. The meeting is the first engagement between the two leaders after the Pathankot terror attack. The two leaders will be holding bilateral talks on Thursday.
As per sources, the Pathankot attack is likely to be discussed and Swaraj is expected to nudge Pakistan to take action against the perpetrators of the attack. Aziz is also expected to pass on an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attending the SAARC summit which is to be held in Islamabad later in 2016.
The two leaders were on Wednesday seen engaged in an animated discussion over a dinner hosted for the ministers of SAARC countries. Though details of their discussion was not known, Indian officials described it as a "social chitchat" between the ministers who were seated alongside.
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Choudhry were also seen sitting together at another table during the dinner hosted by SAARC Secretary General Arjun Bahadur Thapa.
