Surat railway station the cleanest, finds Indian Railways survey
Gujarat's Surat emerged as the cleanest station in the A1 category while Beas in Punjab was found to be the cleanest among the A category stations.

In sync with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan of the Narendra Modi government, the Indian railways recently conducted a survey to capture the perception of passengers on cleanliness standards at major railway stations.

According to the Indian Railways, the objective of conducting the survey was to identify focus areas for improving cleanliness and develop a monitoring mechanism.

The survey was conducted across 16 Railways zones at 407 major stations, of which 75 were of A1 category while 332 of A category. As many as 1,34,564 passengers responded on the survey that was based on 47 parameters of cleanliness.

As per the findings of the survey, Gujarat's Surat emerged as the cleanest station in the A1 category while Beas in Punjab was found to be the cleanest among the A category stations.
