New Delhi: Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams now has set her eyes on the Red Planet - Mars. Williams said she would love to fly to Mars, if not the Moon.

Williams returned to earth on June 22 after spending 195 days at the International Space Station.

"I would love to go to Mars just because it is a different planet," PTI quoted her speaking to media persons in India from Houston.

Asked to choose between moon and Mars as her next destination, she said she would also love to go to the moon, but Mars would be different.

She thanked people across India, particularly from her native state of Gujarat, who prayed for her safe return to earth.

Williams fondly recalled taking a copy of Bhagvad Gita and an idol of Lord Ganesha along with her to the space station and took tense moments in her stride.

She said she would be visiting Hyderabad in September for the International Astronautical Congress after which she would visit her relatives in Gujarat and Delhi.

Williams said during her stay in space she realised that due to micro-gravity conditions her feet had curved and her spine too had grown a bit.

Her first reaction on return to earth was ‘what is this gravity business?’

"I had a little bit of a problem with my eyes and looked like a Mummy for two days. Now I am back to normal. I ran five miles yesterday."

Her experience in space has helped change the way she looked at the earth.

"It's nice, but it's not natural like you see the earth from space. You see the cracks, the craters; you see the rivers, the mountains. You want to leave the earth as pristine and as untouched as possible. That is the impression you get," she added.

What's your reaction?
