Students budge after bus concessions promised

BHUBANESWAR: The Chhatra Congress-sponsored students’ agitation over free travel in green riders was called off on Thursday evening following theState Government’s intervention. A delegation of the students met the Mayor and chairman of Bhubaneswar-Puri Transport Service Limited (BPTSL) Ananta Narayan Jena who assured them to provide concession to students travelling in city buses in uniform and with ID cards after three months. The quantum of concession would be decided within the three months. “The JNNURM guidelines and other details will be taken into consideration and the percentage of concession will be decided in three months,” said Jena.  Since Monday, the students paralysed the movement of 85 green riders in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Khurda and Puri demanding free travel.
