Stormy winds also hit parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), including Uttar Pradesh’s Noida. Owing to the weather conditions, as many as 15 flights, approaching Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, (IGIA) were diverted. Of these nine were sent to Jaipur, two to Amritsar, two to Lucknow and one each to Mumbai and Chandigarh.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicated a clear sky with strong winds during the daytime on Tuesday, with maximum temperature likely to settle around 38 degrees Celsius and minimum around 22 degrees.
It had also said that Delhi-NCR was likely to experience light to moderate intensity rain.

The weather office said that no heat wave conditions are expected in the national capital for the next seven days.
According to IMD, heatwave conditions are applied when the maximum temperature is near or above 40 degrees Celsius and the departure is 4.5 degrees Celsius or more from normal.
The maximum temperature in Delhi settled at 37.6 degrees on Monday, which is said to be in the normal range for this time of the year.
Last month, multiple weather agencies had predicted the return of the La Nina during the monsoon season. The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Climate Center (APCC) had made the first monsoon prediction in India.
The Center had issued two separate forecasts – for the periods from April to June, and July to September.
As per the APCC predictions, India is likely to experience above-normal precipitation during its peak monsoon season from July to September, the report said.
