Stop Surge Pricing After August 22: Delhi HC to Ola, Uber
During the second phase of odd-even scheme, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also slammed the app-based cab aggregators for surge pricing, terming it as "daylight robbery".

New Delhi: To put an end to surge pricing in app based cab services, Delhi High court on Thursday asked cab operators like Ola, Uber and others not to charge more than the stipulated rates set by the Delhi government after August 22.

The Court pointed out that there is a need for a uniform policy across States for cab aggregators and has directed the Centre to appoint a committee and submit a report in 3 months.

The Court also asked the Centre appointed committee to review Delhi government's draft policies for cab aggregators that was released on Thursday.

Ola told the court it has already stopped charging passengers more than the notified rates.

Last month, 20 unions of city's autorickshaws and yellow-black taxis had gone on an indefinite strike to demand regulation of app-based taxi services by the government, saying

that their business was getting affected.

"We will fix fares for them as we have done in the case of radio, economy cabs and yellow-black taxis," Jain said.

"They can charge minimal fares, but they cannot charge more than the fares prescribed by the Transport Department. All app-based taxi services will be regulated through this policy,"

the transport minister added.

He had also asserted "overcharging and blackmailing won't be allowed" in the national capital.

After the Chief Minister's warning against surge pricing, Transport Department had launched a drive against such cab services charging exorbitant fares from the passengers.
