BANGALORE: The D J Halli police have cracked a major theft case and arrested the cashier of the financial services firm where the theft was reported. Stolen property worth Rs 1.06 crore has been recovered.The accused Prajwal, 20, is a resident of Cholanayakanahalli in R T Nagar. He was a cashier at Janalakshmi Financial Services Private Limited.Police said that the firm’s manager R Muralidhar had filed a complaint with the D J Halli police that 4.311 kilograms of gold jewels and Rs 8.75 lakh cash, total worth Rs 1,21,75,000, was missing from the safe locker of the firm. Investigation revealed that Prajwal had gone on leave for five days from May 4.When interrogated, he admitted that he was behind the theft. “He got the duplicate keys of the main door and the safe lockers. On May 5 night, he gained entry into the office and disconnected the emergency alarm of the safe locker.Later, he escaped with the valuables and had kept most of the booty at a room in Citizen Lodge in Shivajinagar and had taken a few jewels to his hometown,” police said.
