BHUBANESWAR: Amidst reports of non-cooperation by the Rayagada district administration to the CBI investigating into the alleged mismanagement of funds under MGNREGS, the Government on Monday assured full cooperation to the Central agency. Admitting that one of the six missing records in the district is still not traceable, the Panchayati Raj Department in a letter to SP, CBI ( Economic Offence Wing), Ravikant said the district collector of Rayagada has been asked to take all possible steps to rebuild the missing record. ‘’Since the case record is not available, the Kashipur BDO was instructed by the Rayagada district collector to report the matter to the local police station and the BDO has lodged an FIR in the Kashipur Police Station,’’ Special Project Commissioner SK Lohani said in the letter. According to the Rayagada district collector, six case records were not available either in Kashipur block or in the gram panchayats under its jurisdiction. After extensive search, five out of six missing case records were retrieved from different offices and courts, he said. The only record pertaining to road construction from Phatamunda to Telengiri in Ranga gram panchayat is missing despite all efforts to trace it, he said adding, this was also explained to one CBI officer by the district collector during his recent visit to the district. The Government will fix responsibility for the missing records and the district collector has been asked to reconstruct the missing record, he added. Rayagada is one of the six districts where the central agency is probing MGNREGS irregularities during 2006-07 financial year.
