BANGALORE: Former minister B Sriramulu has blamed the state leaders for his decision to quit the BJP, with which he was associated for about 14 years. In a three-page letter written to BJP national president Nitin Gadkari, copies of which were released to the media, Sriramulu has put the entire blame on the state BJP leaders, who according to him, were “insensitive” to his situation post the arrest of his close friend G Janardhana Reddy and “ungrateful” to his contribution to the party.“I and my best friend Reddy toiled hard to build the party. Instead of being grateful to our efforts, our state leaders tried to tarnish my image taking advantage of my crisis post Reddy’s arrest. Repeated attempts were made to brand me as someone indulging in blackmail tactics to find my way into the government. This has hurt me immensely,” Sriramulu said in his letter without mentioning any names. He also blamed the state leaders of taking delight out of his and Reddy’s plight. “Leave alone giving me at least moral support in this time of crisis, various leaders of the party were so insensitive and ungrateful that they were privately taking delight out of my plight. That was the last straw. I resigned from my position of MLA,” he added.Sriramulu also saw a design to sabotage his political career in the decision of the state cabinet to seek clarification on Lokayukta report barely an hour after his resignation was accepted.“It looked to me like a clear message for me to not trust the party anymore. My self-respect was at stake. I am not here to take names or sound vindictive against any individual. It’s just to put it on record that the state unit of the party has badly let me and Reddy down, despite knowing very well that we were among those who were instrumental in bringing the party to power in the state,” he added.“Carrying this incurable pain in my heart, I am going out to be on my own. I am leaving with a deep pain and an indelible scar at my heart,” Sriramulu said. While signing off, Sriramulu has also wished all the best for the party. “There’s no way I can wish anything bad for the party. I wish the party all the success and may it grow even bigger to rule the  land for long,” he said in the letter.
