BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday said the long-pending demand of the people of Hyderabad-Karnataka region to get a special status under Article 371 of the Constitution would soon be fulfilled.Gowda told reporters here that the Centre was expected to announce a decision in this regard in a month’s time. “We have been demanding the amendment of Article 371 to accord special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. During my first visit to Delhi as the CM, I had met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and urged him to consider the demand,” Gowda said.Gowda said the Centre had asked the state government whether it wanted the special status on the lines of Vidarbha in Maharashtra or Telangana in AP. “We have asked them to accord the status on the lines of Telangana,” he added.
